Aotearoa

Aotearoa is the Māori name for New Zealand, commonly translated as "land of the long white cloud". This collection of paintings is in honor of my homeland and the Māori people.

I grew up in a richly Polynesian suburb of South Auckland where pride for Māori & Pasifika cultures was infused into school songs and hakas.

As a young aspiring artist visiting The Auckland Art Gallery it was the portraits of Goldie that captivated me. No matter how far I roam - from Paris to New York - I will always call Aotearoa home.
